Pause. Stop wherever you are.
Inhale deeply through your nose, letting your shoulders rise.
Exhale slowly through your mouth, releasing tension, letting out a slight sigh
Repeat three times.
You can do this while waiting for the kettle, in the school queue, or before answering that next question or email.
Each breath reminds your body that it’s safe to slow down.
Take a quiet moment (even two minutes) to reflect:
Where do you feel most stretched thin right now - your mind, body, or heart?
What would calm really look like for you?
When was the last time you said “no” to something that drained you or “yes” to something that restored you?
What would change if you treated yourself with the same patience you give your child?
You don’t need perfect answers, only awareness. That’s where change begins.
So next time your child calls, “Mummy!”, pause before replying. Take one deep breath. Feel your feet on the ground.
